A construction worker was killed and three others injured after they were hit by an SUV in Victorville on Thursday.

San Bernardino County’s Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the collision reported on Hesperia Road south of Green Tree Boulevard around noon.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said four construction workers were hit by a Chevrolet Suburban. A worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Three more were taken to hospitals for treatment,” she said. “The extent of her injuries is currently unknown.”

The Suburban driver reportedly stayed at the scene and worked with investigators.

Victorville city officials said Hesperia Road between Green Tree Boulevard and Ottawa Street would be closed for at least four hours or more from 12:50 p.m.

“This is a tough road closure. Motorists must use alternative routes, “the city said in a statement. “No traffic is allowed within the closed part of Hesperia Road.”

The deputies of the San Bernardino County sheriff blocked Hesperia Road at the intersection with Green Tree Boulevard.
