A new Aldi supermarket, which will create at least 40 new jobs, is slated to open in the current Poundstretcher store on Holyoake Avenue in Bispham.

A sign appeared in Poundstretcher’s window confirming this week’s closure. The closing date for entries was Friday, February 26th.

The sister company Pet Hut will also vacate the premises.

Aldi has now confirmed that construction of its new store will begin next month, with the expectation to open to the public in the fall.

An Aldi spokesman said: “We will start building our new store on Holyoake Avenue in Blackpool in March and plan to open the store in the fall.

“This will create up to 40 jobs and allow locals to shop and save closer to home.”
