US 1 in Bucks County is reduced to a single lane in each direction from Tuesday, July 6 through Thursday, July 8, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning, to clear barriers in the median between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Route 413 intersections in the townships of Bensalem and Middletown, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The barriers will protect workers during ongoing construction to reconstruct, expand and upgrade US1 in this area. In addition, regular lane restrictions may apply to construction work on US 1 north and south between the Old Lincoln Highway and the Turnpike Interchange from Tuesday, July 6 through Thursday, July 8, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and on east and west facing Street Roads (Route 132) between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way in Bensalem Township. The crews are reconstructing and widening almost five kilometers of carriageway, improving the junctions and building several new bridges – including new structures over Neshaminy Creek and railway lines near the Penndel exit – under two contracts (RC1, RC2) for reconstruction, for the Enhance expansion and US1 in Bucks County. JD Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA is the general contractor for the $ 110.8 million Section RC2 project, due to be completed in mid-2026. Alan Myers Construction of Worcester, PA is the general contractor for the $ 95 million Section RC1 project, which is expected to be completed in late 2021. Sections RC1 and RC2 are two of the three construction contracts for the reconstruction and expansion of US 1; replace aging bridges; and install security enhancements along a four-mile stretch of the freeway from north of Philadelphia to north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.
