Plymouth Housing, a non-profit developer and operator of permanent housing, has announced the groundbreaking of its first building in Bellevue, WA.

The new building is the organization’s first outside the city of Seattle and offers 92 apartments for adults suffering from chronic homelessness on the East Side. It is part of a versatile residential campus that provides solutions to the needs of the homeless by offering a range of services and housing options.

“This campus has exceeded our initial expectations by becoming a cornerstone of ensuring affordable housing and safe housing in our community,” said David Bowling, community executive director for the homeless. “Plymouth and CFH are working together to enable people with a history of homelessness to have access to emergency situations, life-saving spaces, a dignified environment, a caring community and the support needed for those in need.”

In addition to the permanent supportive housing provided by Plymouth Housing, the campus includes 100 bed male housing operated by the homeless congregations and 353 affordable housing operated by the Inland Group.

The campus is on 9 acres that was King County Land at 13620 SE Eastgate Way.

The project reached two major milestones in July when the King County Council unanimously approved the sale of the excess land on which the campus is located and the Bellevue City Council unanimously approved additional funding for the men’s home and permanent supporting housing.

“East King County is not immune to the challenges of the housing and homelessness crisis in our area,” said Claudia Balducci, King County Councilor. “The Eastgate campus will include the first and only permanent men’s housing on the East Side, but it will go further with the first permanent supportive housing on the East Side and affordable homes for hundreds of families.”

Construction on Plymouth Housing’s permanent residential building is expected to be completed in early 2023.
