Kahangad: DYFI workers demolished the foundation of a house under construction and planted a flag on the grounds of Ittammal Chaliyam Nayil in Ajanur Grama Panchayat in Kahangad. Construction of the house continued with permission from Ajanur Panchayat under the direction of CPM. VM Razik, the brother of Muslim League activist Ashraf Kollavayal, was the owner of the house that was raided.
Razik built a house on 10 cents of land and the Panchayat approved it on February 5th. Construction began on April 8th.
Locals said that a group of people visited the place and recently removed stones. The walls on the east side were destroyed and removed. The partially built walls of a shed were also damaged. The path was also blocked with huge boulders. Razik is a fruit trader in Canada. The Hosdurg police have booked a case based on a complaint from Razik.
It is a rice country – DYFI
DYFI announced that the house was built on a rice field and is a stagnant place. That’s why we stopped construction, said Kanhangad bloc president Vipin Kattadi. The indigenous people are very concerned about this and have filed a complaint with the Panchayat. However, the demolition of the house’s foundation was not carried out by DYFI workers, Vipin told Mathrubhumi.
Land not in the database – Panchayat
Ajanur Grama Panchayat’s Vice President and CPM Head K Sajeesh said the land was not in the database and that permission had been given because the owner only owns 10 cents of land. He added that further inspections will be carried out as a complaint has been made by the DYFI itself.
