Construction phase two of the PECO right of way is in progress! A stretch of road between S. Limerick Road and Royersford Road is currently under construction and is expected to be completed this fall. In addition, a new section of road from Limerick Center Road to Reed Road will be built shortly thereafter. Once completed, these stretches of trail will provide approximately two miles of ADA-compliant multi-purpose trail stretching from Limerick Elementary School on Limerick Center Road to Royersford Road. The trail will also include safe pedestrian crossings on all roads, including improved safety measures for crossing Lewis Road. The long-term plan is to create trail links to the Freedom Valley YMCA Trail Network from Limerick Community Park and neighboring townships with ultimate connections to the Perkiomen and Schuylkill River Regional Trails. Limerick is proud again to announce that this project was fully grant funded and did not require taxpayers’ money. Pictured (left to right) is township engineer Khaled Hassan von Pennoni, Limerick’s chairman Kara Shuler, and transportation engineer Joseph Platt of Traffic, Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD) who are currently building the route check over. Also shown is an aerial view of ongoing trail construction from S. Limerick Road to Country Club Road and an aerial view of the next section of trail construction from Country Club Road to Royersford Road (aerial photo courtesy of TPD).
