The South Waikato Investment Fund Trust (SWIFT) is seeking interest registrations with key contractors to provide construction for a new $ 14 million South Waikato Trades Training Center in Tokoroa.

The development at 30-32 Chambers Street includes two separate projects:

· Siteworks including redirection of services and

· Construction of a new university center

Interested parties should email project manager Steve Home at Veros – for more information and an ROI information pack with the ROI terms and conditions. Registrations of interest close on March 15, 2021 at 12:00 noon.

The project is led by SWIFT, a community economic development fund dedicated to the prosperity of South Waikato, in close collaboration with the Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, which will act as a training provider. The center is expected to be completed in 2022 and will accommodate up to 500 students per year.

Bruce Sherman, chairman of SWIFT, says the goal of the new center is to help local people with local jobs that are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and support for the future of work.

The center will encompass a combined area of 3500 m² for study, workshop and staff with a commercial kitchen, a café and a barber shop. There will also be space for a digital and entrepreneurial center to bridge the deep digital divide and help young people get into their own businesses.

Mr Sherman said the project is an opportunity to encourage local businesses across the Waikato region to advertise as much as possible to support the local economy and create job opportunities.
